Peta writes

“I have been painting in oils since 2020 and have a particular interest in landscapes. My rural upbringing instilled in me a great love of nature and rural spaces and this is reflected in my work. My painting is rooted in traditional techniques and utilises contemporary mark making, combining it with a love of textural brushwork with a particular interest in light and atmosphere.”

“I have exhibited at The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and at The Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery. As well as being selected as The Axis MAstar 2011, I received a special commendation in The Bishops Art Prize. My work is in private collections around the world.”

Born and brought up in rural South Africa, Peta now lives and works as a contemporary painter in North Norfolk. Having developed a love of the arts from an early age and after graduating from university in Newcastle, she lived in Rome for 3 years selling artworks and working as an assistant to a professional sculptor. In 2009 she returned to the UK to do an MA in Fine Art at the Norwich University of the Arts, where she was awarded a distinction.
